Health Benefits of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a medicinal plant that has been used for years. It is known for treating skin wounds, but it also has many health benefits. Aloe vera juice is a thick liquid made up of the aloe vera plant leaf. It has been used topically and orally. Here are some of the health benefits of aloe vera.

Gut Health

Aloe vera is known to help with stomach irritation and inflammatory disorders. The same way it heals the skin of sunburn, it heals the gut. It is alkalising which helps to restore the guts pH balance. Overtime, the stomach lining can become damaged from food irritants in the diet. Aloe vera can heal this damage by repairing and strengthening the gut lining. Studies show that aloe vera doubles the healing time of the digestive tract.

Skin Health

There has been evidence that suggests topical aloe vera gel helps to slow down aging of the skin. Studies show that aloe vera gel can increase collagen production and improves the skin elasticity. Aloe vera also helps the skin retain moisture, which could benefit those with dry skin. It may also help with acne with its antibacterial agents by removing bacteria from the skin.

An Antioxidant and Antibacterial

Aloe vera gel contains the powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols, they help prevent the growth of certain bacteria the can cause infections. Aloe vera is antibacterial, which is why it helps to heal wounds and the skin.
