Proven Steps And Products For A Defined Wash and Go

Natural’s know getting the perfect wash and go takes practice and the right products for your hair. It took me several trial and errors to find what worked best for my hair. Knowing your hair type and having healthy hair are two of the most important factors for having great results. Here are the current steps and products I use for my wash and go’s. Step 1. Start with Detangled Hair for Shampooing

Washing your hair sets the tone for how your style will turn out. Before washing I detangle my hair to prevent breakage during the wash. Making sure to use products that won’t strip your hair of its natural oils and leaving it free of product build up. I like to use Camille Rose Natural Sweet Ginger Sulfate Free Cleansing Rinse and Pantene Pro v Cowash. These leave my hair clean while still hydrated and moisturized.

Step 2. Condition

After shampooing you need a good deep conditioner. This will help repair any damage that you may have while giving the hair an extra moisturizing. I get the best results when I leave my deep conditioner in for an hour, covering it with a shower cap to keep the moisture in. I use the Mane Choice Treatment Mask.

Step 3. Style and Define Curls

After rinsing out my deep conditioner I go in with my styling products on soaking wet hair. Products penetrate the hair better on wet hair giving you more definition and less frizz. You may need a spray water bottle to rewet the hair during styling. I first section my hair into four sections then go in with a leave in, Kinky Curly Not Today. I appy a decent amount until all of my hair is covered. Then to seal in the moisture with an oil , Doo Gro Mega Thick Formula Hair Oil. I apply a small amount to each section. Then I apply my thick moisturizer Carols Daughter Coil Enhancing Moisturize Butter. I apply enough of this until all of my curls look defined and I don’t see any frizz. Lastly, I apply Curlessence Moisturizing curling jelly, this sets the style giving you super defined curls without frizz. One key reminder is however your hair looks wet is how it’s going to look dry. If there are any parts that need more product you can always go back in and add until you have defined curls. Once you are finished styling make sure not to touch you hair until it is dry to avoid frizz.

Step 4. Air Dry and Add Light Oil

The best way for my wash and go’s to dry without disrupting my curls is to air dry. This takes forever though, it can take my hair 5-6 hours to dry. Another option is to use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment on the cool setting, this does cause some frizz but is a faster option to air drying.
