Filter For Shower Head

Adding a filter for your shower to filter out fluoride can help prevent hair loss. It has been shown that high exposure to fluoride compromises hair follicle growth. Fluoride also blocks your thyroid, which can cause hair loss.

Sulfate-free Shampoo

Sulfates destroy protein, given that the hair is made up of 91% protein, that’s something you want to avoid. It can break down the top layer of the skin causing dryness and inflammation. When you use shampoos with sulfates it can lead to scalp irritation that can contribute to hair loss. Pureology is a great sulfate-free shampoo.

Rosemary Oil

There have been studies that show rosemary oil as comparable to the effectiveness of rogaine in preventing hair loss. It strengthens scalp circulation and has anti-inflammatory properties. Rosemary oil is also used to prevent premature graying and dandruff. You rub it into the scalp, leaving it on overnight or 15 minutes before shampooing.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal. It contains flavonoids and saponins that give you a healthy scalp which leads to healthy stronger hair growth. Fenugreek has antecedent, protein, and nicotinic acid that strengthen the hair shaft and prevent damage. It’s rich in protein and iron which are important for healthy hair growth. It thickens and increases your natural hair growth. It promotes hair growth by preventing dandruff, controlling sebum production and helps with dry scalp.

MSM Sulfur

Msm is a sulfur chemical found in plants, animals, and humans. It has anti-inflammatory properties that protect the scalp and help with hair growth. MSM creates stronger bonds throughout the hair extending the Anagen phase, which is the active growth phase of the hair cycle.

Silica

Silica gives the hair its strength. It’s a trace mineral made from a combination of silicon and oxygen. Silica starts at the root by delivering essential nutrients to the scalp and follicles. Most spring waters have silica in them like Pellegrino. You can buy silica rich waters which are great for the hair, skin and nails. You can also take it in supplement form.

Amla

Amla is one of the best sources of vitamin C. It prevents premature greying of the hair and improves scalp health. It strengthens the hair follicles promoting hair growth. It can be used in powder and pill form.

Iron

Iron is essential to healthy hair and growth. It helps red blood cells circulate oxygen to your cells. When you have low iron levels or anemia this can affect the growth phase of the hair, leading to hair loss.

Zinc

Zinc is one of the most important trace minerals that helps with hair growth and repair. In addition, it’s an anti-inflammatory that protects the oil glands and hair follicles. Hair loss has been shown to be a common symptom of zinc deficiency. When the body doesn’t have enough zinc it causes the hair follicles to not work properly. A zinc supplement can help reduce hair loss.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a gentle exfoliante for the scalp that helps to promote hair growth and healthy hair. Add a diluted 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar to 1 liter of water. Rub it into the scalp as a way to help clean pores that may be blocked and prevented from growing properly. Apple cider vinegar and the scalp are acidic, it can help reestablish the ph balance in the scalp

Vitamin C

Free radical damage can be harmful to the hair causing your hair to age and stunt growth. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects the hair from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Vitamin C also creates the protein collagen, which is important for healthy hair growth. Vitamin C helps the body to absorb iron, an important mineral for hair growth.

Protein

Getting enough protein in your diet is important for hair growth as the hair is made up of mostly protein. When you are deficient in protein it can lead to hair loss. Biotin is a popular supplement for hair growth because it is essential in the production of the hair protein keratin.
